2018 Fall Forum

Risk Management in International Education

MIEC sponsored a Fall Forum on the topic of risk management in international education on October 19, 2018. The forum began with introductory remarks by Dr. Suleha Suleman, MIEC President and Assistant Vice President for International Initiatives at Towson University, Cheryl Darrup-Boychuck, Owner and Chief International Education Officer of USjournal.com, and Liz Shearer, Director of Study Abroad at Towson University. From there participants had the opportunity to engage with individuals and organizations who shared their materials and discussed their services during lunch. Afterwards, concurrent sessions were held with speakers who shared their expertise and facilitated conversation on the following topics : International Student and Scholar Services: David Fosnocht, Director of Immigration Practice Resources at NAFSA: Association of International Educators; Study Abroad: Leanne Johnson, Director of International Risk Management in Education Abroad Office at the University of Maryland College Park; and English Language Programs and International Recruitment: Deanna Wormuth, former Director of the English Language Center at Georgetown University. The day ended with networking and a raffle.
